Two-day operation results in 48 drug and firearms offences

Investigators from the Logan Major and Organised Crime Squad have today closed a two-day operation targeting drug and firearms offences committed across the Gold Coast and Logan area.

As part of Operation Quebec Elm, investigators working in partnership with Logan District Police and specialist units executed search warrants on six properties in the Gold Coast, Logan and Brisbane area including Marsden, Greenbank, Bethania, Regents Park and Ormeau.

Police seized two firearms including a handgun and shortened rifle, methylamphetamine, $12,000 cash and a vehicle alleged to be proceeds of crime and a quantity of stolen property including a stolen motor vehicle.

Seven people were charged on 48 offences, including a 45-year-old man from Greenbank and a 38-year-old woman from Marsden. The 45-year-old man is due to appear in Beenleigh Magistrates Court on March 28, 2019 and the woman was due to appear today.

“This was a targeted and specific, intelligence-led operation which resulted in significant charges and the seizure of illicit firearms and drugs.

“We continue to focus on disrupting the illegal activities of these syndicates and will use a variety of proactive operational tactics to stop crime and make our community safer,” Acting Detective Senior Sergeant Gavin Pascoe of the Logan Major and Organised Crime Squad said.
