Two people injured during break-in in Ermington

Investigations have commenced after two people were injured during a break-in at Ermington last night.

About 9.45pm (Wednesday 4 November 2020), an 88-year-old man was asleep inside his Fyall Street home when he was woken by a sound coming from his room.

As he called for his friend, a 54-year-old woman who was staying with him, he was set upon by a male intruder. He was punched several times in the face before the woman entered the room after hearing noises.

The intruder punched the woman in the face and knocked her unconscious before running from the location.

Officers from Cumberland Police Area Command attended and established a crime scene. The two occupants were treated at the home before being taken to Ryde Hospital where they are both being treated for minor injuries.

Investigations continue.
