UC showcases state-of-the-art research at inaugural FAD Research Festival

The University of Canberra will showcase the amazing research taking place in the Faculty of Arts and Design at the inaugural FAD Research Festival this Wednesday 13 November 2019.

The inaugural festival will showcase state-of-the-art research that our researchers, Higher Degree by Research students and Honours students are conducting, through presentations, panel discussions, poster sessions and keynote speeches.

The Faculty of Arts and Design at the University provides a vibrant research culture in the fields of Arts, Humanities, Design, Communication and Media, Architecture and Built Environment.

Hear from Centenary Professor Ross Gibson, who will discuss how he has used non-traditional research methods to purvey the richness of the forensic photography collection at the Justice and Police Museum in Sydney. Find out how the University of Canberra-led consortium has transformed Haig Park through the Haig Park Experiments or delve into a research project that looks at how media shaped the Child Abuse Royal Commission.

The faculty is home to two globally recognised Research Centres – Centre for Creative and Cultural Research and News and Media Research Centre. The new International Building Quality Centre will also be launched during the festival.

“There is world-class research being undertaken at the University of Canberra, which we are proud to showcase,” said Professor Jason Bainbridge, Executive Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Design at the University.

“This is a wonderful opportunity for not only the UC community to see what the work the faculty is doing but also the wider Canberra community and industry partners.”
