The Rockhampton Region is home to many outstanding achievers, and we need your help to give them the recognition they deserve by nominating them for the 2022 Australia Day Awards.

Rockhampton Region Mayor Tony Williams said the Australia Day Awards are an excellent opportunity to publicly acknowledge those who make an extraordinary contribution to our community.

“We all know that certain individual or community group that goes above and beyond and contributes to the betterment of the community,” said Mayor Williams.

“Anyone can nominate a friend, group, colleague or relative – someone who deserves acknowledgement for their achievements and contributions to the Rockhampton Region.

“Other contributions could be through their involvement in local clubs, sporting groups, volunteering, charity work, business, cultural or youth groups or those who take on an advocating role to speak up for their community.

“The Australia Day Awards are our chance to celebrate and thank the people who contribute to the advancement of the region and show them how much they mean to the community.”

Young Citizen of the Year 2021, Denvah Baker-Moller was acknowledged for her dedication to music, volunteering and commitment to being a role model for young people.

Denvah said the Australia Day Awards are a perfect way to acknowledge those that contribute positively to the community.

“It is a nice way to encourage people to keep doing what they are doing,” said Denvah.

“I was grateful to be nominated and proud to be awarded this honour.

“I dedicate my time to volunteering and playing music because it is my passion, not to receive awards, but it is a great feeling to be recognised.”

Rockhampton Region Mayor Tony Williams said the seven award categories have been specifically designed to highlight those who make a difference across various aspects of our community.

“From being recognised in the sporting arena, to highlighting culture, undertaking community initiatives and services, and dedicating time and effort to the Region, there is a category to recognise all the hard-working people.

“If you know of a person or community group dedicated to making the Rockhampton Region a better place, help us recognise their efforts and nominate them for a Rockhampton Region Australia Day Award.”
