UPDATE: Call for information – Large Disturbances – Daly River

Northern Territory Police are continuing to respond to violent disturbances in Daly River.

Yesterday, police received reports of two houses within the community had been set alight. No one was in the houses at the time and no injuries were reported in relation to the blaze.

Additional police support has been deployed into the community since the recent disturbances in the region began.

Assistant Commissioner Janelle Tonkin said “Police are holding meetings with Traditional Owners, Elders, Community members and other stakeholders to help facilitate calm within the region.

“This behaviour is dangerous and completely unacceptable, there is no excuse for what is occurring right now. Additional support from the Territory Response Group and the Territory Safety Division will be on the ground to provide respite to local members and ensure the safety of everyone.”
