Update on upcoming works at Dendy Street Beach

Reminder that works to deliver brand new community facilities at Dendy Street Beach are set to commence.

The Brighton Life Saving Club, carpark and public toilet at Keith Court will be closed week commencing 15 November and will reopen in mid-2023.

Previously we had communicated the start date of 10 November however, this has been slightly adjusted to enable Council to address all the necessary details for the project.

This closure is necessary for community safety during the demolition and construction of the new Life Saving Club, cafe and public toilets, carpark and upgrades to the stormwater drainage including the soil remediation works in response to the EPA clean-up notice.

As a reminder to everyone, visitors will be able to park at the following carparks which are within walking distance of the beach:

  • Green Point carpark, 950 m walk
  • Middle Brighton Baths, 850 m walk

Pedestrians can still access the beach via Park Street and outside the fenced area around the construction site.

We encourage visitors to use the carparks at both Middle Brighton Baths (4 spaces) and Green Point car park (2 spaces). Dendy Street beach can be accessed from the level pathway at Middle Brighton Baths and by using the bay trail path.

The Brighton Life Saving Club will be able to continue its vital community service and we have installed temporary sheds along the foreshore for that purpose.

You may have noticed these sheds which store life-saving equipment, first aid facilities and viewing points.

During the construction period, anyone wanting to view the precinct and/or take photos of the iconic bathing boxes will be able to do this from the lookout at Green Point.

An accessible viewing area will be reinstated as part of the Dendy Street Beach Pavilion redevelopment.
