Updated Arrivals Associated Direction 29 April, South Australia

The Emergency Management (Arrivals Associated No 19) (COVID-19) Direction 2022 has been revoked and replaced by the Emergency Management (Arrivals Associated No 20) (COVID-19) Direction 2022. This Direction comes into effect at 12.01am on 30 April 2022.

Key changes include:

Unvaccinated International Arrivals

Unvaccinated international arrivals to South Australia no longer need to quarantine upon arrival to South Australia.

All international arrivals (both unvaccinated and vaccinated) need to:

  • Undertake a COVID-19 Rapid Antigen Test (RAT) on arrival to South Australia and quarantine until they have taken this test; and
  • Monitor for symptoms once a day for 14 days after arrival to South Australia.

People who return a positive RAT result need to immediately have a COVID-19 PCR test by travelling directly to the test site and wearing a mask at all times.

RAT results need to be reported on the SA Health website here: https://www.sahealth.sa.gov.au/wps/wcm/connect/public+content/sa+health+internet/conditions/infectious+diseases/covid-19/testing+and+tracing/rapid+antigen+testing+rat+for+covid-19#scrollTo-Reportingyourresult10

Close Contact Arrivals

Clause 6 —Special provision relating to close contacts and Clause 5—Quarantine requirements for premises other than medi-hotel or quarantine facility have been removed from the Emergency Management (Arrivals Associated No 20) (COVID-19) Direction 2022.

This means that people travelling to South Australia (either domestically or internationally) can now enter South Australia if they have been a close contact of a COVID-19 case. Previously, entry was prohibited for people who had close contact with a COVID-19 case 7 days prior to arrival.
