The Cross Border Associated Direction has been updated in South Australia in relation to New South Wales. The Cross Border Travel-Associated Direction No 20 came into effect at 5.21pm on Wednesday 23 June 2021. However please note the State Coordinator gave a verbal direction consistent with Associated Direction No 20 at 1:41 pm today.
The following restrictions apply to travellers from New South Wales:
From 1.41pm Wednesday 23 June 2021:
- Any person arriving in South Australia who has been in the state of New South Wales, in the 14 days prior to their arrival, but not before 11 June 2021 is subject to Level 6 restrictions (prohibited from entry).
Cross Border Community members
- If a Cross Border Community Member from South Australia or New South Wales has not left the Cross Border Corridor (100km from the border on the New South Wales side) they are permitted to travel anywhere within SA without restriction.
- If a Cross Border Community Member has been outside the Cross Border Corridor into New South Wales within the last 14 days they are subject to Level 4 restrictions and must:
- COVID-19 test on day 1, 5, & 13. Unless they can produce evidence of a COVID-19 test or a negative COVID-19 result within the previous 7 days.
- No self-quarantine as long as they remain a cross border community member but must not enter a high risk setting for 14 days.
- Must wear a face mask (covering mouth and nose) at any time that they come into contact with the public for a period of 14 days after their arrival in SA.
Permitted Arrivals from New South Wales
Returning South Australian residents, people relocating and people escaping Domestic Violence who have been in New South Wales are permitted to enter South Australia but are subject to Level 4 requirements:
- COVID-19 test on day 1, 5 and 13
- Must self-quarantine for 14 days
- Must wear a mask when in contact with the public for 14 days after their arrival.
Essential Travellers from New South Wales
Essential Travellers who have been in New South Wales are permitted to enter South Australia but are subject to Level 4 requirements:
- COVID-19 test on day 1, 5 and 13
- Must self-quarantine for 14 days (in accordance with the requirements of their class of traveller)
- Must wear a mask when in contact with the public for 14 days after their arrival.
Note: Commercial Transport and Freight categories are excused from the COVID-19 testing regime if they can produce evidence of a COVID-19 or a negative COVID-19 result in the last 7 days.
Please note that restrictions in relation to Victorian arrivals remain in place under Associated Direction No 20. Persons in South Australia and bound by obligations pursuant to a previous Associated Direction remain bound by those obligations unless directed otherwise by an Authorised Officer.
This Direction should be read in conjunction with the Emergency Management (Cross Border Travel-General) (COVID-19) Direction 2021.
The Emergency Management (Cross Border Travel – Associated Direction No 19)(COVID-19) Direction 2021 has been revoked and replaced by the Emergency Management (Cross Border Travel – Associated Direction No 20)(COVID-19) Direction 2021.
