A safety upgrade to the intersection of Beasley and Blunt roads near Lucknow will begin on Monday 11 October.
The $500,000 project will involve widening the intersection and improving the line of sight for vehicles turning from Blunt Road onto Beasley Road.
UPGRADE: The improvement to the intersection of Beasley and Blunt roads is the first stage of an upgrade to Beasley Road.
The work is the first stage of a $2 million upgrade to Beasley Road that will stretch almost three kilometres from Blunt Road to the Mitchell Highway. It received $1.5 million funding from the NSW Government’s Fixing Local Roads program. Orange City Council contributed the remaining $500,000.
The intersection upgrade is expected to take five weeks to complete, depending on the weather and COVID-19 restrictions. Orange City Council has written to neighbouring residents outlining the timetable for the project.
The eastern end of Blunt Road will be closed at the Beasley Street intersection while the work takes place. Signposted traffic detours will be in place via Phoenix Mine Road, the Mitchell Highway and Beasley Road.
Motorists are urged to be cautious when driving through the roadworks and follow the directions of traffic controllers at the site. There will be minor delays.
As the intersection is used as a school bus stop, Orange City Council has notified Orange Buslines of the works and a diversion has been put in place.
The bus stop will be relocated to the intersection of Blunt Road and Phoenix Mine Road while the upgrade takes place and the bus will divert around the airport in a bid to impact the least number of passengers as possible.
