After nine months, major roadworks on Main Arm Road have now been completed, thanks to $3.7 million in funding from the NSW Government.

The improvements include:

• Road widening and surface repairs.

• Guardrails in some places.

• Improving signage and line marking.

• Upgrade of the intersection at Coolamon Scenic Drive, Pine Avenue and Chinbible Avenue.

• Extending safety barriers on Palmwoods Bridge and Williams Bridge.

• Rehabilitation of road pavement on Main Arm Road west of Sherrys Bridge, and

• Rehabilitation of road pavement near the Main Arm Road and Murwillumbah Road Intersection.

Completion of this work has been welcomed by around 3,000 road users who travel on Main Arm Road every day.

Phil Holloway, Council’s Director Infrastructure Services, said completion of this work was a good step in improving the safety of the road for locals.

“We are pleased to have completed improvements to the section of Main Arm Road that we received funding for, however we do recognise that there is still a big job to be done to Main Arm Road in Upper Main Arm,” Mr Holloway said.

“We are in the process of securing additional funding for this work to be done and look forward to being able to begin this next section of important work.

“We thank local road users for their patience while the work was completed, and while waiting for the next section of works to start in the Main Arm area,” Mr Holloway said.
