Victoria names Marsh Cup squad to face QLD

Campbell Kellaway is in line to make his Victorian debut after being named in Victoria’s 13-player squad to face Queensland in the Marsh One-Day Cup on Tuesday.

Rookie contracted Kellaway has performed strongly for the Victorian Second XI this season, scoring a century along with two fifties.

Cricket Victoria’s Head of Male Cricket, David Hussey said Kellaway has earnt a spot in the squad through strong performances.

“It’s exciting for Campbell to be selected in the Victorian squad for the first time, he’s consistently shown since pre-season began his talent and has shown us that through his performances,” Hussey said.

“Over the weekend in Premier Cricket Campbell made 133* and 51 in one-day matches, which adds to his scores for the Victorian Second XI against the red ball.”

Kellaway represented Australia in the 2022 U19 World Cup, finishing in the top 10 run scorers and has impressed for Premier Cricket side Melbourne, registering back-to-back centuries last season to earn a Rookie Contract for 2022-23.

Victoria will face an in-form Queensland side who last week won their Sheffield Shield clash by an innings and 10 runs.

“The Sheffield Shield result last week was disappointing but not something to dwell on, the squad have reviewed the match and move our attention pretty quickly to this Marsh Cup match where we’ll be looking to bounce back strongly,” Hussey said.
