Viewing platform removal

MidCoast Council

MidCoast Council will begin work to remove the viewing platform at Winda Woppa Reserve Lagoon during May.

The viewing platform, which was constructed by a community group, was not a Council facility, and so is not included in Council’s maintenance budget. It has now fallen into disrepair and become a public safety concern.

Council has looked into the feasibility of repairing it, and has been advised it is beyond repair.

As neither Council nor the community group have the funds to support a full replacement, the platform will need to be removed. Works will start as early as Thursday 12 May, weather permitting.

Council will liaise with relevant NSW Government agencies to ensure the marine environment is not unduly affected during works.

Local community groups have been approached for feedback on the potential of recycling timbers and other material from the viewing platform by gifting them to a community organisation.
