Vote to be held on vision for Eureka Centre

Ballarat City Council will vote on adopting 2030: A Vision for the Eureka Centre at its December 11 meeting.

This strategic document aims to position the Eureka Centre as a viable museum, tourist attraction and community hub.

It focuses on activating the Eureka Centre and the Eureka Stockade Memorial Park after the City of Ballarat took over the former Museum of Australian Democracy at Eureka (M.A.D.E).

The 2030 Vision was developed in collaboration with the Eureka Centre Community Consultative Committee, established to support the transition from M.A.D.E to the Eureka Centre, which occurred in April 2018.

Community feedback received during the development of the Draft Eureka Centre Interpretation Plan, which is more of an operational document, was also taken into consideration.

The 2030 Vision presents a series of strategic recommendations grouped into categories: Place, Partnerships and Advocacy, and Programming.

It is also a future-focused document that concentrates on the Eureka Centre’s financial sustainability, reputation and reach.
