WA reels in 20th Sculpture by Sea exhibition

  • ‘Sculpture by the Sea, Cottesloe’ returns for its 20th anniversary in 2024
  • This year’s exhibition will feature international artist Sean Henry from the United Kingdom, along with over 70 works from other artists
  • The exhibition is one of WA’s largest free public events and supported by the Cook Government

The highly popular ‘Sculpture by the Sea, Cottesloe’ will again grace the shores of Western Australia this year, celebrating its 20th anniversary when it descends on Cottesloe Beach from 1-18 March, 2024.

The free event will feature over 70 works by local and international artists from 15 countries including Iceland, Japan, New Zealand, the United States, and the United Kingdom. This popular event is expected to attract over 250,000 attendees.

Each year as part of ‘Sculpture by the Sea, Cottesloe’, an artist from one of Tourism Western Australia’s 11 key international markets is invited to exhibit an exclusive artwork at the event under the ‘Tourism WA Invited International Artist’ program.

The invited artist for 2024 is celebrated UK sculptor Sean Henry, known for his larger-than-life painted human figures which have been installed in many locations across the globe.

The UK is a priority tourism market for WA, with 111,000 visitors in the year ending September 2023, injecting around $227 million into the economy.

The 2024 event will also feature a public indoor exhibition showcasing small artworks by Sculpture by the Sea exhibiting artists, as well as an Access and Inclusion Program.

The majority of sculpture works on display will be available for purchase, which will support the exhibiting artists and help fund future exhibitions.

The annual event is proudly supported by the Cook Government. Find out more at sculpturebythesea.com.
