Weak government continues to sit by as cost of living crisis intensifies

Tasmanian Labor

The Rockliff-Ferguson
Government’s cost of living crisis is only going to be made worse by today’s
interest rate decision by the Reserve Bank.

Every Tasmanian is paying the
price of the government’s broken promise on energy, with the fallout an
electricity bill price shock which will cost the average household $227.

The Rockliff-Ferguson
Government is asking TasWater to increase its prices by 3.5 per cent for an
average bill hit of $43 next financial year.

Then there is the Government’s
ill-timed and unfair new bin tax which will require every Tasmanian to pay every
time they wheel out their wheelie bin or go to their local tip.

Now a household with a
$400,000 mortgage will pay over $100 more each month in repayments on top of
the government’s massive utility bill hikes.

This is a government that is
faced with a cost of living crisis but is prepared to do the bare minimum to
address it.

This is a cost of living crisis that is being wilfully supported by the Rockliff-Ferguson Government.
