Wellington libraries hit road with Click and Deliver

Wellington Shire Council has established a new Click and Deliver library service to assist the community with reading material and other resources during the COVID-19 pandemic.

While uptake of the online resources available through Wellington libraries has been strong, some patrons were missing the feeling of reading a physical book and others didn’t have internet access.

Wellington Shire Council Mayor Alan Hall said library staff had put considerable work into establishing the Click and Deliver service, abiding by all current COVID-19 restrictions and health advice.

“We understand how important our local library services are to many in our Wellington communities and we expect the Click and Deliver service to be popular,” he said.

“Feedback already from those who have received a delivery of books from their local librarian has been fantastic.

“It is a very simple process for the library member to navigate, they just need to phone their local library or place an On Hold request through the online catalogue.

“Library staff will then make contact to organise a mutually convenient time to deliver the books or other resources such as DVDs, magazines and the like – it’s that easy.”

Cr Hall said like many other organisations, Wellington Shire Council had to become innovative about how it continued to provide services to the community during the pandemic.
