Westpac NZ pleased to extend its banking partnership with NZ Government

Westpac NZ is excited to be working with the NZ Government to meet the evolving payments needs of New Zealanders, after signing a new agreement as its main banking partner.

The agreement will see Westpac provide transactional banking services to the Crown and 39 core agencies through to 2027.

Westpac NZ General Manager of Institutional and Business Banking Reuben Tucker says the bank is delighted to continue as the Government’s main banking partner.

“We’ve enjoyed a close and constructive relationship with the Government as its banker since 1989 and have facilitated billions of payments over that time,” Mr Tucker says.

“We appreciate the huge responsibility that comes with this role. We’ll continue look at how we can deliver more practical and strategic support to help the Government operate as smoothly and efficiently as possible.

“From providing foreign exchange services, to facilitating financial support to vulnerable people in our communities, a wide range of New Zealanders expect us to help deliver payments accurately and on time. Our dedicated Public Sector Team ensure this is a priority across our business.”
