Where is integrity, Premier? 10 August 2023

Premier Jeremy Rockliff continues to keep former Racing Minister Madeleine Ogilvie as part of his cabinet despite her long and growing track record of misleading Parliament

During Budget Estimates, Minister Ogilvie clamed on three occasions she had never been briefed about the North West Track cost overruns and could not answer questions about it.

But Right to Information documents prove that Minister Ogilvie wasn’t telling the truth – again – demonstrating a familiar pattern of behaviour from the Minister and this government.

Despite saying that she could not answer questions about the track, documentation shows that Minister Ogilvie received a briefing on the issue less than two weeks before the hearing on May 29.

Premier Rockliff says he wants to lead a government of integrity and transparency but with Minister Ogilvie blatantly misleading Tasmanians, how can this be the case?

Minister Ogilvie has been caught repeatedly being dishonest about the reasons for the departure of the TasRacing CEO, her attendance at harness racing events and her engagement with key racing stakeholders.

Premier Rockliff must act if Tasmanians are to have any faith in his leadership.
