White Hart freshens up with a new coat

The White Hart Hotel is a key landmark in Horsham’s Firebrace Street, and although currently closed, it is a hive of activity.

Publican Bruce Hartigan and his team have been busy refreshing the hotel, both inside and out. New carpets and fresh paint have revitalised the accommodation wing, and all the downstairs rooms have been painted, including the roof of the bar.

The outside of the hotel is glowing white again after 20 years of being a heritage yellow colour. Noting from the paint layers, the White Hart has only been painted 2 or 3 times.

Originally licenced as a hotel in 1882, Mr Hartigan thinks that the building dates back further than this. In the late 1950’s, the original verandas were taken down and the façade of the White Hart was painted completely white for the first time.

Mr Hartigan says that keeping busy with the renovations and focusing on the immediate tasks at hand has been helpful in staying positive while the business has been closed.
