Will Hodgman has broken his promise to meet with hard working staff of the Family Violence Counselling and Support Service who are under extreme pressure from underfunding.
Will Hodgman made a commitment to meet with the staff last month but instead has written to them advising the Government will review the service.
Shadow Minister for Women, Equality and Prevention of Family Violence, Michelle O’Byrne, said Will Hodgman was showing a complete disregard for the staff.
“These workers are under considerable stress from chronic under resourcing at a time when demand has increased by 200 per cent and for Will Hodgman to break his promise to them shows he simply doesn’t care,” Ms O’Byrne said.
“The service currently has a shortfall of 11.54 FTE staff state-wide and Will Hodgman must urgently commit funds to employ more staff and also guarantee the service will be quarantined from the Government’s $450 million budget cuts.
“We also need assurances that this review won’t result in the restructure, dismantling or outsourcing of this service.”
