Williams Landing gets dog off-leash park

This will have your pooches barking with delight – Wyndham City has awarded the construction contract for the new Williams Landing dog off-leash park, with work to begin in the coming weeks.

Located within Williams Landing Boulevard Reserve, the park will include a fenced-off dog off-leash area with three distinct zones: a large lawn area for dogs to run around, an activity space with agility equipment, and a quiet area for smaller and older dogs.

Other features include a drinking fountain, seating, dog litter bag dispenser and bins.

Wyndham City’s Climate Futures and Environment Portfolio holder Cr Robert Szatkowski said the Williams Landing dog off-leash park was one of five currently under construction or in planning across Wyndham.

“In addition to Williams Landing, construction on the Bulban Road dog off-leash park in Werribee is well underway and is expected to open to the public in the coming months,” Cr Szatkowski said.

“Meanwhile, work on a new dog off-leash area at The Strand Park in Point Cook is expected to start later this year, while planning is underway on new dog off-leash parks at Cambridge Reserve in Hoppers Crossing and Alcock Road Reserve in Truganina.”

“These projects are being delivered as part of the Wyndham Dog Off-Leash Plan 2022 and Wyndham’s Open Space Strategy, both of which strive to provide accessible and well-connected open spaces for families and their pets.”

“These five new dog off-leash parks will add to the existing 18 dog off-leash areas located across Wyndham and will get us that much closer to our goal of developing a network of off-leash parks within walking distance for most residents.”
