Wind of change at Bushy Park with road safety improvements underway

Dept of Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development and Communications

Work has started on improvements to an intersection in Bushy Park that will improve safety and traffic flow.

The almost $760,000 project was funded under the Australian Government’s Road Safety Program (the Program).

The project will create a right-turn lane out of Gordon River Road into Glenora Road. The new turning lane will separate turning vehicles from through traffic, minimising the potential for rear end collisions.

The Program also funds activities and projects to improve safety and traffic management on the broader road network.

The projects funded include targeted shoulder sealing on rural roads and intersection upgrades at high-risk junctions.

The Bushy Park improvements are expected to be complete by the end of this year.

Quotes attributable to Federal Assistant Minister for Infrastructure and Transport Carol Brown:

“I’m pleased to see this vital work underway to greatly improve the safety of the Gordon River/Glenora Road intersection.

“This is a great example of the Road Safety Program delivering lifesaving road safety treatments on rural and regional roads and providing better protection for vulnerable road users.”

Comments attributable to Tasmanian Infrastructure and Transport Minister Michael Ferguson:

“I’m excited to see work underway on this important intersection for Bushy Park which will improve safety for traffic travelling from Gordon River Road into Glenora Road.

“Our infrastructure upgrades happening all over the State are about better safety and efficiency for all road users.

“I look forward to the Bushy Park community enjoying the benefits of a much safer intersection.”

Comments attributable to Federal Member for Lyons Brian Mitchell:

“The works being delivered here support the safe passage of vehicles into and through the intersection from this upgrade.

“These works will prevent road crashes and rear-end vehicle collisions while providing greater protection for vulnerable road users like cyclists and pedestrians.”
