Witness appeal for stabbing in Shepparton

Investigators are appealing for witnesses to assist with their investigation into a stabbing incident in Shepparton on Friday 15 October.

A 30-year-old Mooroopna man was charged with one count of attempted murder, intentionally cause serious injury and a breach of a court order following an alleged stabbing of a 25-year-old Shepparton woman on Barton Street about 2pm.

The woman was taken to hospital with critical injuries.

It is alleged the man fled the scene with a four-month old baby who was known to the man. He was arrested a short time later and the child was recovered uninjured.

Officers are appealing for any witnesses who may have seen a white Kia Picanto hatch driving around the outskirts of Shepparton prior to the incident.

They are also seeking to identify two potential witnesses who are believed to have been standing in a driveway of an unknown street after 2pm, who may have seen this car and heard it beeping its car horn as it drove by.
