Wodonga TAFE presents food and wine festival

The North East Food and Wine Festival is returning to Junction Square on Saturday 29 October 2022, from 3pm to 8pm.

Now in its tenth year, the festival is celebrating its return after a break due to COVID-19 restrictions.

This much-loved event will again showcase a handpicked collection of food and beverage vendors from the Border and North East Victoria. Live music and roving performers will bring the space alive and entertain approximately 8000 people, all keen to discover the best our region has to offer.

Wodonga TAFE’s Event Coordinator, Ms Lauren Heidke, said the twilight event time would make the most of the spring evening, with the wide-open spaces of Junction Square the perfect setting for an afternoon and evening festival.

“The new October date allows Wodonga TAFE students more time to participate in the planning and execution of the festival,” she said.

“The North East Food and Wine Festival gives Wodonga TAFE students real-life work experience in study areas that include event management, hospitality, photography, and sound production.

“We are also very excited to announce that our Kids Zone will be sponsored by Bilson’s Soda Bar,” said Ms Heidke.

“Festival-goers will be able to taste traditional frothy ice-cream spiders and very fancy sodas! Children can enjoy the bouncy castle, face painting, and lawn games in this dedicated space which is designed to help families relax at the event.”

With the Melbourne Cup public holiday just three days later, festival organisers are also hopeful the timing of the festival will encourage more visitors into the Wodonga region that spring weekend, making the most of the potential four-day weekend.

The North East Food and Wine Festival team would like to thank and acknowledge Wodonga Council as a key sponsor and supporter of this event.
