An investigation is underway into the armed robbery of a man in a park at Broken Hill yesterday afternoon.
Police have been told a 60-year-old man was sitting on a bench in Lions Park on Blende Street about 4.40pm (Saturday 19 October 2019), when he was threatened by a woman armed with scissors who demanded cash.
The man handed over money but then got into a scuffle with the woman and took the scissors from her and she, and a male companion, ran away.
Officers from Barrier Police District were alerted and attended the scene.
They are now appealing for public assistance to identify two people they believe can assist with the investigation.
The first person is a woman described as being of Aboriginal/Torres Strait Islander appearance, aged 30-35 old, about 170cm tall with a slim build and shoulder length black hair. At the time she was wearing black shorts, a white top with black dots, white thongs, and carrying a black shoulder bag.
The second person is a man described as also being of Aboriginal/Torres Strait Islander appearance, aged 25-30 old, about 160cm tall and unshaven. He was wearing tan coloured long pants with a long sleeve flannelette checked shirt. He was wearing burgundy coloured Nike brand shoes and was carrying a Nike brand backpack.
Anyone who may have witnessed the incident, or who may know the two people described, is urged to call Broken Hill Police or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
