Woman dies after crash in South Coast

A woman has died following a two-vehicle crash on the South Coast this morning.

Just after 10.45am (Saturday 1 January 2022), emergency services were called to Currarong Road, Currarong, following reports a Subaru Forester and a Hyundai sedan had collided head-on.

The female driver of a Subaru died at the scene. She is yet to be formally identified.

The Hyundai driver – a 20-year-old man – was treated by NSW Ambulance Paramedics for minor injuries before being airlifted to Wollongong Hospital as a precaution. He will also undergo mandatory testing.

Officers attached to South Coast Police District established a crime scene and with the assistance of specialist officers commenced investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash.

A report will be prepared for the information of the Coroner.
