Woman dies in hospital after crash at Maroubra Beach, NSW

A woman has died in hospital after a car was driven over a ledge and onto Maroubra Beach last week.

About 2.30pm on Wednesday 13 March 2019, emergency services were called to Maroubra Beach after reports a Mazda 3 hatchback had driven through a railing and fallen about 6m onto the beach

The driver, an 86-year-old woman, and the passenger, an 80-year-old man, were treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance paramedics before the woman was airlifted to Royal North Shore Hospital in a serious condition with head and spinal injuries.

Yesterday (Saturday 16 March 2019), Police were told the Maroubra woman died.

The Mona Vale man remains in Royal North Shore Hospital in a critical condition.

Officers from Eastern Beaches Police Area Command and the Metropolitan Crash Investigation Unit continue to investigate the incident.
