Woman seriously injured after single vehicle crash in Leichhardt

A woman has been left seriously injured after a single vehicle crash in Sydney’s inner west early this morning.

Just after 2am this morning (Friday 7 January 2022), emergency services were called to Parramatta Road near the intersection of Hay Street, Leichhardt, following reports of a white Toyota Corolla having flipped onto its’ roof.

On arrival, officers attached to Leichhardt Police Area Command were told the vehicle was allegedly travelling at speed before the driver lost control of the vehicle, causing it to flip.

The driver – a 35-year-old man- was treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics for minor injuries before being taken to Royal Prince Alfred Hospital for mandatory testing.

A female passenger – believed to be in her late 20’s – was trapped for some time before being release by Fire and Rescue NSW.

She was treated on scene by NSW Ambulance Paramedics before being taken to Royal Prince Alfred Hospital with serious leg injuries.

Nearby shopfronts were damaged as result.

A crime scene has been established as specialist officers from the Crash Investigation Unit investigate the circumstances leading up to the crash.

City bound road closures are in place and drivers are encouraged to avoid the area.
