Work on the first phase of the redevelopment is now underway, with a brand-new BMX pump track now under construction.

It is being funded by the NSW Government through a $455,000 Open Spaces Program: Places to Play grant.

Hawkesbury City Mayor Sarah McMahon joined NSW MLC Peter Primrose to turn the first sod on the works.

Work will extend to the rest of the reserve by the end of summer, weather permitting.

“I’m really excited that work has begun on the eagerly anticipated revitalisation of Woodbury Reserve,” Mayor McMahon said.

“Woodbury Reserve will transform into a thriving community recreation hub that will be beloved by families, individuals and sporting teams. I know that there are many kids and teens that are particularly looking forward to the new pump track!

“There will be something here for everyone to enjoy, and I can’t wait to see the community down here every day of the week enjoying the new facilities.

Minister for Planning and Public Spaces Paul Scully said the new pump track would be a great community asset for Glossodia and the wider Hawkesbury.

“The NSW Government’s $16.7 million Places to Play program is a commitment to creating places for people to connect with greater access to nature, water and places to get adventurous outdoors,” Mr Scully said.

Attending the event, NSW MLC Peter Primrose said the new facility will benefit riders of all ages and abilities.

Woodbury Reserve will receive a full redevelopment in line with the already-approved Masterplan, which was adopted in February 2022 following extensive community consultation, and will provide the Glossodia community and surrounds with much-needed passive and active recreation facilities.

Council is committed to providing spaces and infrastructure that supports healthy and active lifestyles and celebrates the outdoor beauty of the Hawkesbury.

The Woodbury Reserve works will include:

– New pump track

– New playground

– New multi-purpose courts

– New amenities building

– Improved and additional parking within the site

– Designated dog off-leash area

– Shared path network with better connections

– Improved access to natural areas

– Additional shelters with barbecue facilities

Weather permitting, Council anticipates the Woodbury Reserve redevelopment to be completed in Spring 2024.
