Work continues on newest roundabout

Orange Council

The focus switches to new footpaths and traffic islands this week at the site of the new roundabout at the intersection of Dalton and Clinton streets.Concrete pours will be happening at several locations around the roundabout in the coming days.

Crews put the base layers of hot mix asphalt onto the road last week, before the final seal of hot mix scheduled for next week, weather permitting.

Work will begin further along Dalton Street this week on a project to improve a dip in the road. Excavation will extend a drainage line along Sale Street from Prince Street through to the Northern Side of Dalton Street. This will enable the current dip in the road at the intersection of Sale and Dalton streets to be smoothed out.

PROGRESS: Crews install the first layer of seal on the new roundabout at the corner of Dalton and Clinton Streets.

Work continues on upgrades to Clergate Road this week, between Quartz Street and Ralston Drive. Crews will be excavating the roadway to strengthen base layers. Work also continues on installing stormwater pipes.

Council crews are hoping for better weather so that work can continue on road improvements in residential areas of North Orange.

An initial gravel seal has already been completed at:

  • Anson Street (Northern Distributor Road end)
  • Diamond Drive (near Farrell Road)
  • Anson Street (near James Sheahan High School)

A final layer of hot-mix asphalt is still to be added.

A section of Diamond Drive near Bella Vista Close is yet to dry out after recent rain and is not ready to be sealed.
