Works Approval for Veolia

EPA has issued a Works Approval, subject to conditions, to Veolia Environmental Services, to install a 20 foot self-bunded refrigerated container at their premises at 10 George Street, Portland.

Medical waste collected in 120L, 240L and 660L bins from Portland and surrounding regions will be stored temporarily in the container prior to bulk haulage to Veolia’s licensed existing medical waste treatment plant in Corio.

The works will reduce the frequency of transportation and provide better service to waste generators in the event of emergency.

Veolia must notify EPA when it intends to start and finish the work. Veolia must ensure any construction does not have offsite impacts and report to EPA that the construction is in accordance with the approval.

The George Street operation is required to obtain an EPA licence to ensure protection of the surrounding environment and health of the community.
