Blacktown City Council is calling on young people to raise their concerns at a Youth Forum later this month.

The second annual Blacktown City Council Youth Forum on Friday 21 February will give young people aged between 16 and 21 the opportunity to help shape Council’s youth policies.

More than 100 students representing 12 Blacktown schools attended last year’s Youth Forum.

After identifying the issues that most concerned them, students took part in a ‘youth’ council meeting where they were given the opportunity to put those issues to the Mayor and Council Executive.

Young people who are attending school, university, or TAFE are invited to register their interest in attending the forum.

Blacktown City Mayor Tony Bleasdale OAM said: “Last year we had a chance to listen first hand to what young people in our City regarded as the most important issues concerning them.

“This year we want to see how they would like to work with Council to address the issues that are most important to them and we will again be holding a ‘youth’ council meeting in the Council Chambers.”

The Youth Forum takes place on Friday 21 February in the Nirimba Room at Council’s Administrative Centre in Blacktown.
