1500 jobs on offer at Ipswich Jobs Fair

The Morrison Government’s Ipswich Jobs Fair will bring together local job seekers and businesses from in and around Ipswich next Wednesday, 27 October at Ipswich Showgrounds.

Minister for Employment, Workforce, Skills, Small and Family Business, the Hon Stuart Robert MP, said the jobs fair will promote a wide range of employment opportunities for job seekers looking to get into work.

‘The Morrison Government is committed to connecting job seekers with businesses looking to hire, as we continue our recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic,’ Minister Robert said.

‘Creating jobs and boosting the skills of Australians to help them get back into work is at the heart of our Economic Recovery Plan.

‘Continuing the strong momentum, we’ve seen in the local labour market, we want as many people from Ipswich and surrounding areas as possible to upskill and reskill and get work in their communities.’

Assistant Minister for Youth and Employment Services, the Hon Luke Howarth MP, said sectors of the economy were experiencing strong demand for workers, including Ipswich and south-east Queensland.

‘We know there is a real need to fill vacancies across the Australian labour market, which is why the Ipswich Jobs Fair is so important,’ Assistant Minister Howarth said.

‘There will be more than 1,500 jobs on offer at the fair, including in aged and disability care, tourism and hospitality, manufacturing and childcare and education, which will play a key role in securing our future economic prosperity.

‘We are committed to helping job seekers find employment opportunities, whether they’re looking in Ipswich or somewhere else in the great state of Queensland.’

Queensland Senator Paul Scarr said the Morrison Government’s ongoing commitment to creating more jobs will set Australia up for future prosperity.

‘Our plan to connect local job seekers with work will help Australia bounce back stronger than ever after the COVID-19 pandemic,’ Senator Scarr said.

‘Our community is working hard to support its businesses and job seekers to take advantage of new employment opportunities as our economic recovery gathers pace.’

The Ipswich Jobs Fair is a free event with two sessions running from 9.30 am-12.15 pm and 1 pm-3.45 pm (AEST).

Registrations are essential to ensure COVID-19 safety guidelines are met.
