Nominations are now open for the 2020 Commonwealth Bank Teaching Awards. Educators can win a $45,000 Teaching Fellowship, which includes a $25,000 project for their school.

Now in their fourth consecutive year, the Awards recognise inspiring Australian educators who are evolving their teaching practices to improve the lives of their students and their local community.
Kylie Macfarlane, General Manager Corporate Responsibility at Commonwealth Bank, said the Teaching Awards, established in partnership with national education charity Australian Schools Plus, are an opportunity to acknowledge educators on a national stage.
“The Commonwealth Bank Teaching Awards celebrate and showcase the positive role our teachers play in the learning and development of our children – an incredibly important and fundamental role in our communities,” Ms Macfarlane said.
“The 2020 Teaching Fellows will join elite alumni from schools across Australia, forming a group of education professionals who can affect real and meaningful change in the Australian education landscape.”
Rosemary Conn, CEO of Australian Schools Plus said, “The Awards give leading educators the chance to collaborate with colleagues across the country and champion innovative practices in their schools and the broader education system. Fellows can develop and refine their skills, and learn from other Teaching Award recipients as well as international experts through masterclasses and an overseas study tour.”
As part of the Awards, each winning teacher or school leader will be awarded a $45,000 fellowship. Of this, $25,000 will fund a high-impact project to be implemented at their school with the remaining to be used on continuing professional development for these leading educators.
Applications are now open until 27 September, with winners to be announced at a ceremony in Sydney in March 2020.
