A win for small businesses in City of Greater Bendigo

City of Greater Bendigo is officially a Small Business Friendly Council, pledging to give small businesses in the region more supports.

The initiative, delivered by the Victorian Small Business Commission, is about making it easier for small business owners to get started and develop their businesses.
Commissioner Judy O’Connell and Member for Bendigo West Maree Edwards MP were pleased to join with the council’s Mayor Cr Margaret O’Rourke and CEO Craig Niemann to sign the initiative’s Charter in Bendigo.
In signing, City of Greater Bendigo is committing to pay small businesses within 30 days, work towards faster permit approvals and help manage impacts of disruptive infrastructure projects.
Ms Edwards MP, attending on behalf of the Minister for Small Business, said City of Greater Bendigo’s commitment shows how we can work together to achieve an inclusive and fair business environment.
With over 7,900 registered business in the area, Cr O’Rourke is pleased to make the pledge.
“City of Greater Bendigo is a big supporter of our local businesses and signing up to this initiative is an important way for us to further support new businesses to succeed and existing business to grow,” Cr O’Rourke said.
The council’s pledge adds to current supports they provide, including their business Application Navigator Tool and their Business Help Desk, a new initiative to help local businesses better connect with the City of Greater Bendigo.
Commissioner O’Connell commends the council for signing up.
“It really is great to see City of Greater Bendigo demonstrate their genuine want to work together to give local businesses the support they need to do business,” Commissioner O’Connell said.
