Andrews must sack Minister over branch stacking scandal

Liberal Party Victoria

Premier Daniel Andrews must sack Energy and Resources Minister Lily D’Ambrosio and refer serious allegations of branch stacking and fraud to the Independent Broad-based Anti-Corruption Commission (IBAC) and Victoria Police.

Leader of the Opposition, John Pesutto, said “Today’s revelations are further evidence of a tired and corrupt Government that is more interested in internal power struggles than serving the needs of Victorians.

“Allegations of branch stacking and the forging of signatures of dead people not only raises serious questions about criminal offences but is an affront to the families of the deceased and Victoria’s multicultural communities who have been used for political purposes.

“In 2020 Daniel Andrews immediately sacked former Minister Adem Somyurek and made referrals to IBAC and Victoria Police when similar allegations came to light.

“The Premier can’t have one standard for his friends and another for everyone else. He must dismiss Minister D’Ambrosio immediately and refer these matters to IBAC and Victoria Police for investigation.”

Shadow Special Minister of State, David Davis, said “Victorians deserve a government that acts with the highest integrity at all times and is fully focused on addressing the cost of living crisis for Victorians instead of their own internal power struggles.”
