Announcing Darwin’s pre-cyclone kerbside collection dates

Darwin City Council

Residents across Darwin are being asked to start thinking about their pre-cyclone clean up and prepare for the annual City of Darwin kerbside waste collection.

Lord Mayor Kon Vatskalis said City of Darwin staff and contractors would begin the mammoth task of collecting hundreds of tonnes of waste from 4 September 2023.

“Now is the time to look around your home and yard and decide what needs to go before the cyclone season,” Mr Vatskalis said.

“An old fridge, furniture, scrap metal, and even old toys can become dangerous missiles if left lying around during a cyclone.

“You can put your items on the street the day before collection begins and do your bit to make your home and neighbourhood safe,” he said.

Zone 1 suburbs can put out their items on September 3. Collection will take place 4 – 15 September.

Zone 1: Alawa, Anula, Brinkin, Casuarina, Jingili, Karama, Leanyer, Lyons, Malak, Marrara, Moil, Muirhead, Nakara, Tiwi, Wagaman, Wanguri, and Wulagi.
