A seventh person has been charged and will appear in court today over his alleged involvement in a car rebirthing syndicate.
In August 2018, detectives from the Financial Crimes Squad’s Motor Unit established Strike Force Emelle to investigate the coordinated theft, rebirthing and on-sale of stolen motor vehicles and vessels across Sydney.
Detectives executed nine search warrants and charged a 20-year-old woman and four men – aged 20, 30, 32, 57 and 64 – in late 2019. They remain before the courts.
As part of investigations into items seized during the warrants, strike force detectives identified that a Stabicraft 2050 Supercab (marine vessel) had been stolen in June 2019 and rebirthed.
Following further inquiries, strike force detectives arrested a 28-year-old man at a home at Dundas Valley about 7.45am on Tuesday 31 December 2019.
The man was taken to Granville Police Station and charged with dishonestly possess interfered with unique identifier and receive/dispose stolen property.
He was granted strict conditional bail to appear at Parramatta Local Court today (Tuesday 11 February 2020).
Investigations under Strike Force Emelle are continuing.
