Appeal after suspicious house fire at Tamworth, NSW

Police are appealing for public assistance following a suspicious house fire in state’s north east overnight.

About 12.45am today (Monday 22 November 2021), emergency services were called to Tingira Street, Tamworth, following reports a house was well alight.

Fire crews attended and extinguished the blaze.

No one was home at the time, and no one was injured.

Officers from Oxley Police District established a crime scene, which be examined by forensic police.

As inquiries continue, police would like to speak to two men who were seen running from the location.

One male is described as being of Aboriginal/Torres Strait Islander appearance, 175cms tall and wearing blue jeans, and a black top.

The second male is described as wearing tracksuit pants.

Police are treating the fire as suspicious and appealing for anyone who was in the area at the time and noticed suspicious activity to come forward.
