NT Health Applications now open for Territory youth grants program to prevent substance misuse

Applications are now open for the Northern Territory (NT) 2023 – 2024 Alcohol and Other Drugs (AOD) Youth Grants Program to support projects aimed at preventing youth substance misuse.

Through a range of prevention, education and community action initiatives, the program aims to minimise harm associated with the use of alcohol, tobacco and other drugs across the Territory.

Individual grants of up to $20,000 are available, with all NT-based community groups, non-government organisations, local councils, sole traders and partnerships eligible to apply.

This year, two priority focus areas have been identified for applications to help address current issues affecting young people in the NT. These include culturally safe responses to tackle harms associated with vaping and chroming, as well as increasing access to staff training in trauma informed care.

A total of $271,000 is available to be awarded in the 2023 – 2024 funding round.

This year is the eighth round of the NT AOD Youth Grants Program. To date, approximately $1.83 million has been provided through more than 100 projects.

Applications are open through the GrantsNT website here and close Friday, 29 September 2023 at midnight. Late applications will not be accepted.

“In the 2021 – 2022 grant round, 11 organisations across the Territory were funded to support young people develop and learn new skills, provide diversionary activities such as camping, sport, arts and crafts, and deliver training and education for people working in alcohol and other drugs.
