More people can discover Wangaratta’s Bullawah Cultural Trail, with new signage and sculptural signposts installed.
Minister Settle announced the completion of the Wangaratta Wayfinding Project, which was supported by $100,000 from the Caroll Labor Government.
New wayfinding signs have been installed through Wangaratta’s CBD, making it easier for locals and visitors to find the river precinct and the start of the Bullawah Cultural Trail.
The Bullawah Cultural Trail stretches along the banks of the Torryong (Ovens) River for more than two kilometres, offering a place to discover the traditional stories, culture and food of Wangaratta’s Bangerang First Peoples.
In addition, works have installed public seating, as well as sculptural signposts that celebrates the original stories from Bangerang elders, who assisted with the cultural trail project in 2016.
The infrastructure is expected to support access to the Bullawah Cultural Trail and Marmungun Rock experience.
The Council Support Package has helped regional councils invest in projects that create lasting value for their communities by driving visitation, creating public spaces, empowering volunteers and sharing First Peoples culture.
More than $50 billion has been delivered through the Carroll Labor Government over the past decade to make our regions even better places to live, work, visit and study.
