Appointments to Tourism Australia Board

Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade

Today I am pleased to announce the appointment of three new members to the Tourism Australia Board.

Ms Georgina Richters’ board experience in Queensland’s arts and cultural sectors, and her role as Deputy Chair of the Brisbane 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Legacy Committee, will be extremely valuable to Tourism Australia. As a Luritja woman, with 20 years working in Indigenous affairs at national, state, local, and community levels, she will bring a valuable Indigenous perspective to the Board.

Mr Ian Horne brings decades of experience in hospitality, events, accommodation, and venue management, most recently as CEO of the South Australian Branch of the Australian Hotels Association. His work on tourism and events sector Boards, including the South Australian Tourism Commission, will provide a contemporary view of the industry’s needs.

Ms Linda Wayman brings a wealth of expertise in corporate governance as the Principal of Wayman Advisory, the Chair of Carers WA, and as a former Board member of both Tourism WA and VenuesWest. This, alongside her experience in media, marketing and tourism, makes her well-placed to support the Board’s objectives.

I welcome the new appointees and look forward to working with them as they support Tourism Australia to boost demand and attract international travellers, including through the $125 million Come and Say G’day campaign in key global markets.

I thank departing Board members, Mr Bradley Woods, Ms Alexandra Burt and Ms Katie Page for their service and contributions to Tourism Australia during a time that has been extremely challenging for the visitor economy.

Attributable to Tourism Australia Chairman Michael Issenberg:

“The tourism industry has faced a difficult couple of years with borders closed, and the Tourism Australia board and organisation, played a key role supporting our operators during this time.”

“Bradley, Alex and Katie were part of a team that drove a broad range of initiatives, from a domestic campaign, to industry support measures, and the development and launch of a new international brand campaign.”

“I know I speak on behalf of the Tourism Australia team, and the tourism industry across the country, in thanking them for their dedication, expert advice and support during their tenures.”

“There is still a big job ahead for Tourism Australia, and I look forward to the new board members joining us. Georgina, Ian and Linda all bring deep experience and fresh perspectives, as we continue to drive international tourism demand back to Australia”
