Arrest – Aggravated robbery – Alice Springs

Northern Territory Police have arrested a female youth in relation to an aggravated robbery last week.

At 12:30pm on Thursday 21 March 2024, police received a report that an 87-year-old female had her handbag snatched from her by a female youth while walking along Gregory Terrace.

Witnesses proceed to chase the offender before losing sight of her.

At midday today, detectives from Operation Grimmel and Strike Force Viper located the youth, and she was subsequently arrested.

The 13-year-old has been charged with aggravated robbery and will appear in court at a later date.

Northern Territory Police continue to urge people to report crime or anti-social behaviour to 131 444 or 000 in an emergency. Anonymous reports can also be made through Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
