AUSSIES 2019 Australian Surf Lifesaving Championships

Queensland Police Service resources will be deployed to ensure the 2019 Australian Surf Lifesaving Championships primarily at Broadbeach, Gold Coast are enjoyed by all participants, spectators, organisers and the local community with minimal disruption to traffic or incidents of public disorder.

The event is being held from Saturday, March 30 until Sunday April 7, 2019, at Broadbeach and North Burleigh.

In order for the event to be conducted as safely as possible the following road closures will be in effect between the hours of 7:00am and 6:00pm from Saturday 30th March until Monday 8th April 2019:

• Broadbeach Blvd, Broadbeach;

• CoGC car park Kelly Ave, Miami and CoGC carpark North Burleigh SLSC.

Traffic control and detour signage will be utilized to assist with traffic control and to alleviate congestion.

There will also be a change in parking restrictions within the immediate area of the events.

A letterbox drop will be conducted to provide advice to residents in the vicinity of these locations.

Queensland Police encourages all road users in the area to be patient and to obey all parking restrictions in the area in order to minimise the impact to local residents and the event.

Queensland Police also wish to remind the community that it is an offence to consume alcohol in a public place – this includes beaches, parkland, roadways and will be targeting offences in relation to public nuisance, traffic and stealing.
