With the extremely hot weather and strong winds today, total fire bans have been declared in every region of the State, including the metropolitan area and the Mount Lofty Ranges.
Police are reminding the public of the dangers of bushfires and ask them to be vigilant. Police patrols, as a part of Operation Nomad, will target bush fire prone areas throughout the state.
These patrols are deployed to proactively detect fire activity or risky or reckless behaviour as well as focus on known arsonists within our community.
Everyone is asked to be mindful of their behaviour today to avoid accidentally or recklessly starting a fire, through the use of power tools, discarded cigarettes or hot exhaust from cars.
Anyone who sees suspicious activity in fire danger areas is asked to call the police attendance line on 131 444.
