Building Territory business capability for success across Asia

The Finocchiaro CLP Government is backing Territory businesses to grow across Asia, with registrations now open for the free 2026 Asia Literacy Uplift Program.

The program builds on a strong first year – after the 2025 training, 100 per cent of participants rated their readiness to engage Asian markets as good or very good, up from 50 per cent beforehand.

Strengthening Asia capability across the local business community means more growth, investment, and jobs for the Territory.

Territory businesses wanting to strengthen their trade partnerships and international competitiveness can now register for the 2026 Asia Literacy Uplift Program – a free initiative delivered by the Finocchiaro CLP Government in partnership with Asialink Business, Australia’s National Centre for Asia Capability.

The program builds on the success of the inaugural 2025 program, which drew 60 registrations from Territory businesses and lifted participants’ confidence to do business across the region.

Through a series of dedicated Market Spotlight Sessions, participants will gain practical insights into market conditions, business culture, and emerging opportunities across six priority markets – Indonesia, South Korea, Singapore, Japan, Taiwan, and India. Sessions run from 14 to 21 July.

The program is open to Territory businesses and organisations preparing to export for the first time or looking to expand in existing markets, and is designed to strengthen commercial partnerships, improve cross-cultural engagement and build export readiness.

Minister for Trade, Business and Asian Relations, Robyn Cahill, said the Territory’s future prosperity was closely tied to its engagement with Asia.

“Our geographic location gives us a natural advantage, but success in international markets takes more than proximity – it takes cultural understanding, market knowledge, and strong business capability.

“The strong response to last year’s program showed the appetite among Territory businesses to build their Asia capability, and we’re pleased to expand it in 2026 to cover six priority markets and support even more businesses on their international growth journey.”

Asialink Chief Executive Officer Rachel Thompson said Asialink was proud to continue the partnership.

“This next phase will give Territory businesses practical market knowledge and cultural capability training across six key Asian markets. We’re excited to help local businesses unlock the immense opportunities Asia presents.”

Places are limited and participation is competitive. Registrations close on 10 July 2026.
