City of Darwin’s ‘Busk a Move’ program is underway across Darwin, with live performances supporting their Street Food initiative.
The Busk a Move program aims to develop and grow a busking culture across Darwin; encouraging street performance, activating public spaces and adding vibrancy to our city.
“Eating outside under the stars is part of the Darwin lifestyle,” said Lord Mayor Kon Vatskalis “and supporting Darwin artists to perform with our Street Food program ensures people will have a very special night out.”
“The city and foreshore are home to some of the best food vans in Australia and the introduction of live performance adds an extra element to an already unique experience.”
Busk a Move will operate until 16 June, providing musical accompaniment to Street Food vendors in the City, Bicentennial Park, East Point and Nightcliff.
This weekend alone three performers will link with street food vendors in Tamarind Park, East Point and Bicentennial Park. There are mid-week performances over the coming weeks at Nightcliff Jetty, Windsurfer’s Corner on Casuarina Drive and Chapman Road, Nightcliff.

City of Darwin’s Street Food Program starts on 1 April each year and in 2019 there are more than 18 food vans across 4 key locations, including East Point, Rapid Creek, Nightcliff and Darwin City.
