Car driver sought after cyclist death at Lidcombe, NSW

Images of a car whose driver might be able to assist with inquiries into the death of a cyclist at Lidcombe have been released.

Emergency services were called to the intersection of Harry Avenue and Maud Street about 4.45pm yesterday (Tuesday 7 May 2019), after reports a cyclist had been hit.

The man died at the scene. He was a 66-year-old Cammeray man.

The vehicle failed to stop after the incident and police are appealing for public assistance to locate it and the driver.

Crash Investigation Unit Manager Inspector Katie Orr said the driver would have been aware that something had happened.

“We are hoping anyone who might have seen the car, which is described as being a white or grey sedan can contact us,” Inspector Orr said.

“It was being driven by a woman of Asian appearance.

“My advice to this person would be that it is far better for them to seek us out than for us to find you.”

Anyone with information about this incident is urged to contact Crime Stoppers: 1800 333 000 or https://nsw.crimestoppers.com.au. Information is treated in strict confidence.
