Patients, staff and visitors will soon have easier access to Concord Hospital, with construction now underway on a new project to boost parking capacity to more than 2,300 spaces as part of the $341.2 million hospital redevelopment.
Health Minister Brad Hazzard said the new 300 space street-level car park and 550 space five-level multi-storey car park would give patients, staff and visitors more parking options on the hospital campus.
“The community recently welcomed the opening of the new Rusty Priest Building at Concord Hospital and these new car parks will make it easier for everyone to access the hospital’s first class health services,” Mr Hazzard said.
“The NSW Government is delivering on its promise to ensure health services across the state are well placed to deliver excellent care by investing $3 billion on health infrastructure, as part of a $11.9 billion investment over the next four years.”
Sydney Local Health District Chief Executive Dr Teresa Anderson AM said construction of the multi-storey car park had been programmed to maximise availability of parking throughout the project’s stages.
“Consultation with the community will continue to ensure everyone is aware of the upgrades and changes to parking. Staff are being consulted about parking availability, fees, safety, security and priority parking areas for night shifts,” Dr Anderson said.
“The new hospital car parks and drop off areas at the clinical services building will greatly improve access for staff, patients and visitors and we thank everyone for their patience while construction is underway.”
The street-level car park is expected to be completed in mid-2023 and multi-storey car park will be completed in 2024.
Since 2011, the NSW Government has delivered more than 180 hospitals and health facilities across NSW, with more than 130 currently underway.
