The crucial role safety managers play in maintaining Australia’s enviable safety record has been recognised in a new scholarship program launched by the Civil Aviation Safety Authority.
The scholarship is designed to help safety managers increase their knowledge and skills through professional development.
CASA is offering 3 scholarships worth up to $5000 each.
CASA’s Chief Executive Officer and Director of Aviation Safety, Pip Spence, says the new scholarships will provide practical encouragement for people interested in a career in aviation safety.
‘Safety managers play an important role in maintaining the level of safety that the travelling public, regulators and the industry have come to expect,’ Ms Spence says.
‘We encourage those who are committed to the development of a healthy aviation safety culture, who use their initiative, and display a high standard of aptitude and leadership, to apply.
‘As we continue to support the aviation community to move past the crippling shutdown of the industry post COVID-19, we believe this is a great opportunity to help the successful individuals enhance their aviation safety expertise within their organisations.’
Applicants will need a minimum of 2 years’ experience in the aviation industry. They must also either be working in a key aviation safety position or have worked in one previously.
